David “Dave” Pendray passed away from the effects of ALS at the age of 57. Dave was a third generation dairy farmer. The 225-acre Pendray dairy farm is located in North Saanich. David's family now operates the farm. Milk from the Pendray farm has been shipped to Island Farms Dairy since 1960.
The Du Temple family (owners of Ardmore) and the Pendray family (of Pendray Farm) have been family friends now for a few generations. Since Dave's passing, Ardmore has been hosting an annual fundraiser in his honor to help raise funds for research and development of a cure for this terrible disease. Our goal is to raise more each year than the year before. Proceeds are raised through a silent auction, fun golf tournament, mini games, and so much more. There is no limitations for participants (handicaps etc), the event is open to everyone... with a focus on FUN and raising money! Our event this year will take on a new and exciting twist. On September 11th, 2016 foursomes will be joined a member of the Uvic Vikes Varsity Golf Team. This format will consist of five-somes playing a Texas Scramble game and golfers will tee off in an 8:45 a.m. shotgun. We will raise funds for ALS through hole sponsorships and a silent auction. The entry fee is $60 and includes 18 holes of fabulous golf as well as prizes and a barbecue lunch. Ardmore is always looking for people who want to help, either by participating, volunteering, donating etc... there is ALWAYS room for those that want to get involved. If you are wanting to help and would like more information, please talk to Jeff Palmer at 250-656-4621. |
